Haematology, is the branch of medicine concerned with the study, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood.

The Haematology Department is a busy, mainly automated, section of the Blood Sciences department, which, with its partner laboratory at Rotherham, provides routine, specialist and urgent out-of-hours haematology and coagulation testing for the hospital and Rotherham and Barnsley GP services.  The department also manages the blood transfusion services within the hospital

The department is lead by three consultant Haematologists who are available for clinical advice. They also run regular haematology clinics for patients with various haematological conditions.

Technical enquiries should be directed towards the Biomedical Scientists of the department.
